Ham Wood Farm

Ham Wood Farm is located on an exposed Mendip hillside with far reaching panoramic views over the Somerset Levels towards Glastonbury. Three low lying linear forms have been designed running parallel with two existing hedgerows and perpendicular to the gently sloping terrain.  The existing hedgerows, Ham Woods and the sloping terrain form a visual backdrop to the property.   The use of natural cladding materials visually integrate the dwelling into its landscaped setting

Planning Permission was granted for a new dwelling as a betterment to a pre-existing Class Q fall back proposal. The proposal, by reason of its design, scale and layout was shown to improve the appearance of the immediate setting and complement the wider landscape character of the area.

The replacement house is currently under construction and will have a floor area 50% larger than the original barn.
