Located on an elevated 20 acre site overlooking Yeo Valley and Blagdon Lake.
The original dwelling is composed of a Victorian cottage that has been over-clad in UPVC and unsympathetically extended over the years. The dwelling’s form fails to respect the Green Belt and AONB setting.
The brief was to retain the existing structure and remodel / extend the house to provide an additional annex .
The existing form is rationalised through the careful articulation of the fenestration, the creation of recesses within the facade and the introduction of cedar cladding. The new low lying annex appears to ‘float’ over the sloping site and serves to balance the collection of existing extensions of the host building.
